Spencer defends his PhD

Spencer successfully defended his PhD today, giving a stellar presentation on his research into the genomic and fitness consequences of gene surfing in expanding populations. Some of Spencer’s work has already been published in Evolution with other chapters already in the pipeline for publication. As the first PhD student in the lab, Spencer did a phenomenal job setting the tone and we wish him all the best as he prepares for his move to Whitman College where he will continue to explore his love for teaching.
